Smriti Mandhana scored a century as India Women started their five-match T20I series against England Women with a strong win. India defeated England by 97 runs in Nottingham on Saturday.

Mandhana scored 112 runs off 62 balls. India finished with a strong total of 210 runs for 5 wickets in 20 overs.
England faced a tough start, losing two wickets for just 9 runs in the first two overs. Captain Nat Sciver-Brunt tried to rescue the innings with 66 runs off 42 balls, but she got no help from her teammates. As a result, England was bowled out for 113 runs in 14. 5 overs.
Shree Charani was the most successful bowler for India, taking 4 wickets for 12 runs. Other spinners, Deepti Sharma and Radha Yadav, each took 2 wickets.
Earlier, stand-in skipper Mandhana led from the front with a fine innings. While her opening partner, Shafali Verma (20 off 22 balls), did not have a good day, Mandhana took charge of the innings with confidence and flair.
Mandhana scored her first T20I century, setting a record for India Women with a score higher than Harmanpreet Kaur’s 103.
India started strong, making 77 runs for the first wicket in just 8. 3 overs. Mandhana partnered with Harleen Deol, who was even more aggressive, scoring 43 off 22 balls. Together, they formed a 94-run partnership for the second wicket.
